Kathie-Lee Olson
My name is Kathie-Lee Olson and I am the founder, owner and interior designer of Focused Interiors - an award-winning interior design + rendering studio focused on digitally conceptualizing, designing and presenting interior and exterior spaces.
Design has always been my passion. I design and create with my whole heart, and I love helping my clients to realize their goals in order to bring their ideas to life!
Design is so much more than just creating "pretty" spaces. It is about taking the time to understand my clients' goals, desires, and concerns, and working with them to create thoughtful, well-planned spaces where they can live, work, play and ultimately, enjoy life in!
I started sketching my first-floor plan before I knew how to write the word garage - "grosh" was how I referred to it. Flash forward 17 years where and I graduated University with a Bachelor of Interior Design Degree, BID from KPU's Wilson School of Design.
Early on in my profession, it became evident that many people find it difficult to visualize an interior design. Understanding that a design idea is only effective if it can clearly be seen and understood by all, I ventured out on my own and founded Focused Interiors in 2016 as a way to start addressing this issue.
Since then, I have had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of project types ranging from home renovations to new build designs; office improvements to corporate rebranding; and real estate/development interior design and marketing. With each project type, I was able to explore and develop new ways in which to approach, create and communicate a design idea.
As a young entrepreneur, I have been fortunate to have my early pioneering efforts acknowledged and recognized within both the business and design sectors, receiving multiple awards such as Young Innovator of the Year, Young Entrepreneur of the Year and a Surrey Board of Trade Business Leader.
My business continues to evolve as I continue to evolve along with it. Each day I wake inspired and motivated to keep questioning the ways in which design is approached and forever asking the question 'how can an idea be more effectively and efficiently communicated?'
I am so grateful to be in a position where I can design for a living and help empower my clients to shape their surroundings to inspire their lives - both at home and work.
